Guest host – Carl Morris
One of pool’s legit superstars, former world champion Carl ’Houdini’ Morris’ rise through the ranks was nothing short of meteoric.
Left profoundly deaf and without speech through a childhood illness, Carl’s world was turned upside down.
Pool was Carl’s saviour; rescuing him from a life of isolation, giving him direction and purpose – ultimately leading to a career. Representing the men’s county team of Kent at the mere age of 14, within three years Carl had turned professional. By 18, he was an international and by 21 had achieved the status of becoming the youngest-ever world champion – a record he holds to this day.
With over 400 worldwide titles to his name, the moniker Houdini has become synonymous with his exploits on the table. Carl’s achievements are made all the more remarkable through sheer determination, resilience and perseverance to succeed.
Having tasted success as a child actor and as the first deaf person to trek to the North Pole, Carl’s trailblazing attitude to life has seen him establish a successful property business and work as an inspirational speaker, all of which is captured in his forthcoming memoirs, proving that a determined spirit can make anything possible.
