National Inclusion Week is a chance to celebrate, share, learn and embrace inclusion! Here at TPP, we are thrilled to be joining and putting the spotlight on inclusivity and show our passion and commitment for inclusion and equity for everyone.

This year’s theme, Impact Matters, centres around identifying opportunities and measuring the impact to be able to drive and encourage a meaningful change. Here’s a peek into how TPP and our EDI Steering Group have been making waves and the impact we have made over the years.

Our commitment to inclusion

At TPP, it all started with a plan – The Action Plan – driven by a simple yet powerful mission: “TPP – real people creating opportunity and inclusion for all.”

As recruiters, we believe we have a unique opportunity, not only to improve inclusion within our own team but to extend our influence beyond our walls, creating a positive impact for both our candidates and clients. Our goal is to create a culture of inclusion that truly makes a difference and leaves a lasting impact. We see the recruitment industry at the heart of the EDI landscape, and we’re committed to doing everything we can to make a meaningful, lasting change.

Back in 2020, with the help of Inclusive Employers (read more about our journey with them here), we established our Six Inclusion Pillars:

  1. Training & development: We’re committed to educating all our colleagues at TPP and encouraging inclusive decision-making to support fairness in opportunity.
  2. Culture & values: Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive culture place where everyone feels supported and encouraged to bring their true selves and lived experiences to work.
  3. Creating opportunity: We’re all about breaking down barriers to ensure everyone can thrive and retain fulfilment in the working environment.
  4. Diversifying the sector: We work in partnership with organisations to tackle bias, eliminate barriers and expand opportunities.
  5. Supporting our talent: We help our team succeed in their career specialisms and aim to diversify the sector through inclusive recruitment practices.
  6. Leadership: Our leaders are dedicated to leading with empathy, honesty and valuing every voice and opinion so everybody feels heard.

Celebrating our impact

So, what have we achieved since 2020? And what impact have we had in the sector we are so passionate about? Our Altogether Better initiatives:

    • Inclusive Recruitment Guide: Our free guide provides advice on why inclusive recruitment is important, tips on reducing unconscious bias and offers support at each stage of the hiring process to make it more inclusive and accessible for everybody.
    • Inclusive Recruitment Grant: This initiative is something truly unique to us at TPP! We wanted to give back by supporting like-minded organisations with a genuine desire to improving their hiring practices and attracting more diverse talent. We remove the barrier of “cost” from the equation to further support our clients on their inclusive recruitment journey. Since our first launch, we’ve partnered with seven organisations, giving a total of £35,000 to help support them make their recruitment practices more inclusive for everyone. We offer a tailored and customised service, along with our expertise and guidance throughout to support each of our client’s needs individually and recently extended this to Trustee roles!
    • EDI webinars and workshops: We regularly host free webinars and workshops to educate and inform our clients and candidates. Recent events have included Understanding Privilege, Culture Add vs. Culture Fit, Email Empathy and Inclusive Interviewing. We have just announced our next webinar this week and you can check out our upcoming sessions here.

Learning

Our team has dedicated countless hours to training and development, participating in both mandatory and shared learning sessions. We learn from one another, in a supportive and safe environment where everyone feels comfortable and valued. By teaching and respecting each other, we put inclusion into practice, continually growing and sharing new knowledge.

Supporting our candidates

We strive to see things from our candidates' perspective, stepping into their shoes and considering everything we can do to make their experience with TPP as positive and inclusive as possible.

We deeply value each one of our candidates—and as recruiters in the non-profit sector, we are truly honoured to support so many incredible individuals who dedicate their careers to making a difference. We recognise that everyone has their own unique needs and individuality and are committed to giving everyone an equal and fair chance. To support this, we’ve made our website more accessible with Recite Me technology, created a Careers Support Hub full of advice and resources, and introduced virtual workshops and inclusion statements for temporary assignments to ensure all candidates are treated fairly.

Proud Ambassadors

We have proudly become Ambassadors of Hope and continue to search for ways in which we can use this privilege and our platform to create impactful changes.

Our awards – recognising our efforts

Our efforts haven’t gone unnoticed and here are some of the recognitions we are immensely proud of:

  • We’ve been independently recognised and shortlisted for EDI categories by both RIDI and REC EDI awards.
  • We’ve achieved Disability Confident Level 2, recognised as an RNIB Visibly Better Employer, are part of Show the Salary pledge, earned the RIDI Pioneer title, and signed the Menopause Pledge.

The future

Reflecting on our progress and the impact we've made so far is encouraging, it is an ongoing journey that is continuously evolving. We’ll keep working towards our goals, updating our dedicated EDI page so everyone can follow our progress. There's still so much to achieve, but one thing is certain: we will ensure equity remains at the core of everything we do.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating National Inclusion Week! Here’s to continuing our mission of driving impactful and sustainable change!
