The UK Association for Accessible Formats (UKAAF) is the industry association who sets standards, and promotes best practice for accessible documents in the UK. We help businesses and organisations understand how to meet the needs of customers and clients who are print disabled, and how to source and provide quality accessible documents. 285 million people worldwide are blind or partially sighted. In the UK, more than 2 million people live with sight loss. Of those, 270,000 are severely sight-impaired or blind, and 450,000 experience visual acuity below 6/18. People with vision impairment can lack access to basic information unless this is provided in accessible formats. Under the Equality Act 2010, a print-disabled person has the right to receive information in an accessible format. Accessible document standards include traditional formats such as braille, large print, audio, and Easy Read; As well as digital formats like accessible PDF, EPUB, HTML5, and DAISY.
