What Derwent Training wanted to achieve

Due to an increase in operational tasks that they weren't able to manage under their current structure, Derwent Training created a new role - Chief Operation Officer.

They wanted someone with an education background (any level), leadership and quality assurance experience who they would be able to guide through the operational side of the business.

Challenges in recruiting for a Chief Operation Officer

The role required daily on-site working in Derwent Training's offices, based in a rural area, which limited the search. To reach a wider talent pool we combined our resources at TPP with our Leadership & Governance team which meant we had more collective capacity to undertake an extensive search.

What TPP did

TPP worked collaboratively with Derwent Training, having regular meetings to keep them updated on our progress and offered our support and guidance in the following ways:

  • Offered initial advice on appropriate job title helping to attract relevant candidates

  • We offered our knowledge and insights of the market to reach out to a wider talent pool

  • Provided comprehensive advert writing ensuring it appealed to the most suitable candidates

  • Thorough screening of candidates for suitability, including checking teaching qualifications, right to work and commitment to the remote location

  • Detailed research on the surrounding organisations in the area with head hunting expertise from our search and selection team

  • Role promoted across social media platforms reaching as wide an audience as possible

What TPP achieved

TPP successfully identified and placed the ideal candidate within Derwent Training’s required timeframe. By partnering with TPP exclusively, they avoided additional advertising costs, resulting in a cost-effective and efficient hiring process. Derwent Training were extremely satisfied with the outcome, particularly appreciating our consultative approach, transparency, and focus on delivering high-quality candidates. This approach not only aligned with their expectations but also streamlined their recruitment process, saving them valuable time.

Testimonial

"TPP Recruitment is a stress-free and professional service lead by friendly consultants.

We contracted with TPP for a senior role that was proving difficult to fill due to a number of factors including rurality. TPP were thorough during the initial meeting around the job description and with agreement set to work. Communication from Siobhan and Lisa was excellent and honest. It reassured me that we were in partnership working for a successful outcome. They were open to a change in the process to increase the commitment of prospective candidates as they moved through the application process, which helped us make a successful appointment. All round a positive outcome."
